Detatchment

Somewhere I read these lines:

"Detachment doesn't mean you should own nothing, it means nothing should own you."

Few years ago, when I was in my twenties, I was too attached with my appearances. Like most of the normal young men of my age, I was also conscious about my clothes, hair-style and over all outer appearance. With each passing day, I realize that inner appearance is more important than outer appearance. Every moment millions of skin cells die, new cells born.. this is a continuous process till one dies.

For past few days, I was suffering dental problems. Today, after fixing my appointment with the dentist, had to take decision about removing my two wisdom teeth. They were with me for many years, part of physical me. I laid on the chair and after a routine procedure from dentist, she extracted two teeth one by one. I was looking at them with gratitude thinking that now I have to live rest of my life without them. I was feeling sense of detachment.

I feel like sharing some quotes related with detachment:

1.  The detachment isn't a separation from life but the absolute freedom within your mind to explore living.

2. Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

3. Life is not only about learning new things, it is also about letting go something old.

4. To spare oneself from grief at all cost can be achieved only at the price of total detachment, which excludes the ability to experience happiness.

5. The essence of the Way is detachment.

May we all learn the quality of detachment.

God bless!!

Quotes from "The Fakir"

Why this blog? Just to publish some stuff which I encounter here and there, which I feel might be useful to somebody in someway.

I don't want to make this one lengthier.

I'll put just few lines from the book "The Fakir" by Ruzbeh Bharucha. Interested people can get the book from below link:

1. If you accept the Lord's will with grace, then you move on to the next level. It only validates the belief that God gives each of us a cross to bear, knowing well that you have the capacity to lift it up and not be crushed by it.

2. There is nothing wrong in falling.... we all fall... we all have fallen sometime or the other in some life or the other. The important point is to not get crushed, not to bicker, not to hate, not to abuse and be negative to GOD or the world or those who are trying their best to ruin you. If you succeed in rising above the situation in grace, then you have not fallen but actually risen far above what you possibly would and could have, without undergoing the pain and agony.

3. One can decide to take life calmly or disgruntled; happily or completely frustrated; in positive surrender or always judgmental and petty. All are personal choices. And you need to make those choices every moment, innumerable times in a day, countless times in a week and perpetually through one's journey on life; be it in the physical plane or the spiritual. This choice, this personal truth of living one's life is Free Will and has nothing to do with destiny.  Destiny decides the path, the comfort, the companions, the time, the place and often the success or failure of ever reaching one's destination. The state of mind is a personal choice which you take, change, modify and then get stuck with. Personal choice of happiness and calmness, bring about a feeling of heaven on earth. You may be in hell but in a heavenly way.

4. GOD is in the moment. He isn't in the past or the future. If you can't live in the moment, if you can't live as though that moment is your last, then you aren't living, just existing. Live, as though, you aren't going to live again. Enjoy the experience, as though you aren't going to get an opportunity to enjoy it ever again.

5. Pain is the greatest gift God could give to his child, because it is pain that opens the door to compassion and love; and it is only compassion and love for all of creation that opens the doors of paradise and God consciousness.

6. The intentions of the soul is more important than all the earthly laws put together.

7. Don't ask for miracles. Make yourself the miracle of acceptance, courage, joy and calmness.

8. The philosophy is not, 'I have faith my Master will take care of me and will not let me down' but 'I have full faith in my Master and whatever happens my Master knows the best and it is happening with my Master's permission and approval and as it is happening with my Master's blessings, then nothing could be better for me than this.' The most important thing is that whatever takes place, is accepted gracefully and with love as the will of the Master. The consequences are accepted calmly and gracefully.
